Please Pray for Future Bible Lessons

Dear Readers,

Do you know how much I appreciate you? No? Well, I greatly appreciate your comments, well wishes, and smiles. I love your hugs and pats on the back when things aren’t going as well. And because I know that there are some of you who are prayer warriors, I feel the need to share a burden that the Lord has placed on my heart.

I have a burden for the children.

Not just my children. But the children I teach in Awana and the children who will be touched by anyone who uses the Bible Lessons that I post on FFS. A large majority of the kids I teach are in public schools. And it bothers me that the church is quiet on the issue of apologetics when it comes to kids. Perhaps it’s a general weakness of the church, but the more I learn about kids, the more I live life, the more time I spend in God’s Word, the more I realize that the church (ME) is not doing half as much to change our kids as the world is. Tell Yourself the Truth

The kids and I went to visit family while my husband was on a mission trip to Nicaragua. We had a great time. We even took a quick stop in Savannah to ride one of the ferries. But THIS was my drive home:

I have been under a great deal of stress before, but I don’t think I’ve been under such intense pressure for such a long time. I drove through FIVE hours of pouring rain and flooding. I was terrified I would either hydro-plain off the road, or someone would run into me. I decided to get off the interstate because it had become a parking lot. Instead, I drove on smaller two lane roads. At one point in one little town, the police were blocking roads because of the water gushing down the street. Continue reading

God’s Wisdom for Mothers: Growing Christlike Character

Be sure to check out Week 4: Disciplinpencilse – Do the Right Thing.

Introduction:
When was the last time your kids did something and you thought, Oh no! I do that!! Our kids watch everything we do, especially when we don’t realize it. Growing Christlike character in our own lives is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our kids.

Mom Time:

Choose to love selflessly – Read 1 John 3:16-18. These verses give great guidelines for loving others. What activities do you do, or involve your family in, to show love to others? “Talk is easy. Love-in-action takes effort…Jesus didn’t just talk about His love for us; He died on the cross to make sure we understood.” (82) Continue reading

What about disciplining your kids? Are you lacking in the self discipline category? Continue reading

God’s Wisdom for Mothers: Praying For Our Kids

Praying woman handsBe sure to check out Week 1 – A Mom’s Priorities.

Introduction: Think. What do your kids need from you today? Clean clothes? Dinner? Help with homework? “Are you willing to spend as much time praying for your children as you do making their lunch or reviewing this week’s spelling words?” Let’s get serious about praying. But how? Continue reading

May I Brag About My God?

All I could do was weep. I attempted to wipe away the little tears escaping from my eyes as we started singing, “Blessed Be Your Name” in church Sunday. I was in the choir. Everyone could see me. I didn’t want anyone to see me cry. It’s not a pretty sight! Surely people would think I was crazy and had issues. I kept wiping my face, but the tears wouldn’t stop. Finally I gave up and let the water flow. There were moments when I couldn’t get any words or sound out of my mouth. I had no words. Just awe. Just humility. Just love for my God and how amazing He is.

I’m not sure I can describe what God’s been doing, but my Pastor preached yesterday that if God has been doing something in our lives, then we need to tell others about it. So I’m going to try. Continue reading

Do You Vote the Way God Would?

We have an election coming up tomorrow. It’s a big day in the life of the United States. It seems that the loudest voices are heard, the media is a circus, and poor Ohio is inundated by political commercials.

So many times we Christians say, “We need to pray for our country.  It’s headed in the wrong direction.” But do we really do this? I mean, I’m not sure I remember the last time I prayed for Obama, or Hillary, or my state Governor.

“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” ~ I Timothy 2:1-2

Issues are important: the economy, health care, abortion, foreign policy, education…but so many times we only consider issues that affect us directly. It’s hard to consider local, state, national, and international events and issues as the God of the universe does.

A wise man told me yesterday that no matter what happens tomorrow, God’s plan and mission will still be the same. For Christians, we should have ONE main purpose and mission.

“This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,” ~ I Timothy 2:3-5 Continue reading

A Mother’s Prayer

Lord, as I drug myself out of bed this morning, dawned on my work-out clothes, and stepped outside into the dark, chilly air, the majesty of Your Being hit my heart and dropped it to its knees. The stars were so bright! The constellations were perfect in form. And I can do nothing but exclaim the power of the Almighty God, the Creator of all.

In the midst of Your holiness and perfection, You see me. You see me with all of my desires, hopes and dreams. You see me and love me despite my failures. I thank you for saving my soul.

Lord, thank you for walking beside me when I feel lonely and sad. Thank you for picking me up when I fall in my sin. Thank you for forgiving me and giving me grace. Continue reading

Prayer Warriors

I’ve been thinking this morning…

I wonder if you could be a prayer warrior and not know it. I don’t know if I have any proof for this, and maybe you Readers can help me find scripture to support it or not support it.

God gives us talents and abilities.
We are supposed to put our abilities to work in the honoring of the Lord.
I really think some people have been gifted with the ability to pray.

Don’t get me wrong. Everyone is called by God to have a prayer life. Continue reading
