For Such a Time as This

Time as This

There comes a time when God moves so that permanent change takes place. There are moments when His glory is so profound that one cannot help but brake because of the light that is shining and piercing the soul. There comes an instant when a person realizes that the gauntlet has been thrown down and God wants His child to respond.

So how does one respond at such a time?

How do I respond?

I responded tonight with a broken heart and total surrender.

How else can one even stand before a Holy God who loves unconditionally?

He takes my fears and my insecurities and transforms them into jewels in a crown of righteousness.

Reader, I know that all 300 or so of those following FFS do not read this blog every time I post. That’s just how the blogging world is. But YOU are reading now, and I want you to know that I am writing this blog for YOU. I am writing to the mom who just wants to get through the day without baby spit-up on her shirt. I am writing to the working dad who has wonderful grandchildren. I am writing to the Children’s Ministry worker who wants to do well for the Lord. I am writing to the homeschool mom who feels she just doesn’t have her act together today.

I have YOUR attention for a few minutes of the day, but it is my heart that the words you read here point you to Jesus EVERY time you choose to open up a post. Do you know that I pray for you? I do. I may not know your name, but God does.

Reader, I pray that God does something amazing with you today. OWN your brokenness. Surrender. Do His will. He has you exactly where He wants you…for such a time as this.

Go be extraordinary for Jesus today!

FFS is Looking for Guest Writers and Bloggers

boast in GodHello Readers!

Next month, a new installment of “I Will Boast in God” will begin. That means I am looking for people willing to write a short “boast” that will encourage believers in their walk with the Lord.

So many times we get tunnel vision as we go about life. We forget that God is at work around us. I want this series to show how God is at work everywhere and every day. If you have a story that boasts in the majesty and glory of our Creator, please consider submitting it for the series.

Here are the requirements for a submission: Continue reading

May I Encourage You? Run to the Tower

runtothetower

Where do you turn during times of trouble? Food? Alcohol? Friends? Television? Shopping? Do you run away when the pain gets too awful? What do you do when the events of life throw one. more. thing. your way?

Take a look at this verse:

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. ~ Psalm 37:39-40

When the arrows begin to fly towards you, what should you do? Hide? Run towards the trouble? No. We are to take refuge. Think of those days during the time of Robin Hood. When the enemy would come towards a kingdom, the people would drop what they were doing and run as quickly as possible to the walled towers of the city. They would take refuge.

That’s what we are supposed to do. Run. Take refuge. In fact…

The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. ~ Proverbs 18:10

Have you thought about the names of God recently? Let me list just a few for you: Continue reading

May I Encourage You? I Haven’t Had a Chance to Recently

Hello Readers!

May I take a moment to tell you that I think you are great? May I tell you that it is no accident that you are spending 30 seconds reading these words?

You are an amazing creation!
You have purpose and worth!
You are loved!

May the Lord bless you and keep you today. May His face shine upon you and give you peace.
Go out and make a difference today in the life of someone else.

May God be glorified because of you.

~ FFS

May I Encourage You? Go Encourage Someone Else

When was the last time you received a card in the mail? Not a junkmail postcard. But a card with your address hand-written on the envelope? And when you opened the card it was a personal note just to YOU. Don’t those make you feel good?DSC_0405

I have received a few over the years. Not many. But every now and then a card comes along and I’ll stick it in my Bible, or I’ll place it in a keep sake box. Others I’ll put in a safe place in the kitchen so I can pull them out when I need some…..

ENCOURAGEMENT.

You never know when your words of encouragement might be needed. God, in His infinite love for us, always has a word of encouragement in His love letter. But even then, He seems to know that there are times when we need to hear, or read, the words face to face.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

We hear this all the time. We say it to our kids. But how often do we really think it? Continue reading
