May I Encourage You? – Stand on Your Faith

When my husband and I lived in Maryland, Baltimore had adopted a “slogan” of sorts that was written EVERYWHERE!

English: Baltimore Inner Harbor

Baltimore Inner Harbor

BELIEVE! It said.

This frustrated me. Believe what? Believe who? Believe how? In Baltimore? A city where fire hydrants would break at the beginning of freezing weather and wouldn’t get fixed until there was a 6 car pileup? [Yes, personal experience!]

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” ~ Hebrews 11:6

If you are a person who is coming to God then there are two things you must do, according to this scripture. 1) Believe that He is; and 2) believe that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

The Greek word used for “seek” in this verse is “ekzeteo” and it means to seek out, search, investigate, crave, beg, scrutinize, to demand back. The God who created everything in this universe wants you to seek Him out! He desires for you the search His ways! He wants you to crave His presence! He wants you to beg Him to show you His glory! He wants you to scrutinize His scripture! He wants you to investigate His Truths! He wants you to demand back from Him proof of His existence and love!

…And He is a rewarder of this. He loves you too much to allow you to sit on faith that is weak and crumbling. He loves Jesus too much not to take your spiritual growth seriously.

If the world is falling apart today, or you were a part of a 6 car pile up as I was, know WHO to BELIEVE!

Who or What do you believe in?
