I LOVE THE OLYMPICS!!! I love the festivities, the different sports, the stories behind the athletes, the colors, the hillbillies (oops…sorry that was in Atlanta!)….I love everything about the Games.
If I had to pick a favorite Olympic event, I think it would be a hard choice. Swimming is exciting, and I had the opportunity to live in the Baltimore area when Michael Phelps made his debut in the Olympics. That was neat. I’ve always enjoyed watching gymnastics, men and women’s events. I even like watching weight lifting and boxing.
This is the time when my inner athlete comes out.
And I am fascinated by what is “supposed” to be represented. World Peace. A time when all war stops and the peoples of all nations intermingle for a common cause.
I find it interesting. All of these people are racing for the same prize. The Olympics celebrate hard work, physical ability, and dedication. But to what?
Man.
And World Peace will not come about because of Man. Even these Olympics started off on a sour note when North Korea was represented by South Korea’s flag.
Oops.
There is no way Humanity can bring about World Peace because World Peace would mean the creatures and the Creator are in union with each other.
So what prize is worth racing after? A Gold Medal? No. It’s nice to have, but you can’t take it with you when you die.
Jesus?
Only in Jesus Christ will this world experience TRUE peace.
He is the Prince of Peace.
I love the Olympics! And I am excited to watch some of the Christian athletes use their humanity to glorify their Creator. And maybe, in the process, they might be able to shine the peace of Jesus to those with whom they come in contact.
Look for these athletes who profess Christ. PRAY for them.

Good article – it always amazes me how all the countries get together for the Olympics in peace, but cannot keep the peace within our nations each and every day. I never cared much for sports, but when it comes to Olympics, I get caught up in all the excitement. Normally there is no hatred, everyone works hard, makes friends and strives to succeed – which to me they are all winners. Now if we can all achieve to live like these athletes “oh what a beautiful world it will be”!
For the record… my favorites are the gymnastics and the equestrian.
